Church Family News - December, 2008
"Christmas at Puna Congregational Christian Church"
We are well into the Christmas season now, but here are some events and opportunities for service in our church that you'll want to take part in:
Kea'au Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 13, 5:30 PM
We usually see several of our church folks in the parade, whether as Scouts, band members or truck drivers. Of course w'll also have our own float as we try to share the meaning of Christmas with our community. If you can help with the float, come to the church Friday evening; if you'd like to walk with the float, wear a church t-shirt if you have one, and be at the church about 4:30 PM on the day of the parade.
Children's Ministry Christmas Program, Sunday, December 14
The children will present their program in both services. Come and bless them and be blessed by them!
Christmas Caroling, Sunday, December 14, 6 PM
We'll meet at the church about 5:45 PM to get organized. After visiting a few homes, all are invited to the Thompsons' in Kurtistown for refreshments.
Women's Ministry Christmas Party, December 20, 1-3 PM
All women are invited to Pat Merrill's home (330 Ohukea Street, Sunrise Ridge in Hilo, 934-0940) for a time of fellowship, reflection, and planning for the New Year.
Live Nativity, Sunday, December 21, 6-8 PM
We'll need lots of help for this ministry, as we make a visual representation to the community of the true meaning of Christmas. You can be in the cast, help set up and take down, serve refreshments, etc. Sign up on the bulletin board, or speak to Marie Bricker ( 966-6257).
Christmas Eve Services, 6 PM and 8 PM
With carols and candles we will worship with family, friends and neighbors and tell again the good news of how Creator God came to our earth in Jesus Christ. If you can bring refreshments to serve between services only, please do--but finger foods only.
There will be no Church School on December 28 or January 4. There will be only one worship time on December 28, 10 AM, with Pastor Dale leading and preaching.
The church staff and their spouses thank you for your support and ministry in 2008, and wish you a very blessed Christmas season and God's guidance and peace through the New Year: Pastor Bob and Jean, Pastor Dale and Sarah, Gayla and Dan Houston, Wendy and Eddie Sugai, and Dani and Gary Oertel. On this site's Home Page, please click the tabs for Christian Education and Youth Ministry to get news from those departments. Thank you! |
